What's your favorite part about volunteering?

  • Watching all the fabulous runners come up the last hill.
  • Seeing the gratitude of the runners for just handing them a cup of water.
  • Being a part of a wonderful Charlottesville event
  • A lot of the runners were very appreciative
  • Being part of a community event and helping the runners.
  • Working with the other volunteers - they're wonderful!
  • Seeing friends and helping a great race and thanks for the t-shirt!
  • People were friendly this year. Volunteer shirts are awesome!
  • Met very nice and (mostly) patient people.
  • Cheering people on. Seeing friends run by.
  • The bell and cheering the runners on with it! Also the t shirt was cool! And people were very appreciative of my volunteer work and they told me
  • Meeting some of my fellow racers on the eve of the big run.
  • While working at the event I saw so many friends who were taking part in the race.  It was great to chat with them and also to see some of my parents (students that I teach) who were taking part in the event for the first time.  Yes they had a few jitters!  :)
  • Interacting with the Charlottesville community, and receiving gratitude from all the participants.
  • Cheering with the neighborhood.
  • I love telling other runners good luck and to enjoy the race.
  • Being part of a community
  • Seeing lots of friendly faces
  • Cheering on all the runners especially those who looked like they really needed it and those who were vocally so appreciative. And seeing everyone that I know personally and their smiles when I called out to them.
  • People we work with. The runners responses was excellent.
  • Was at the food table and got to take home some left overs!!! Awesome.
  • The satisfaction of doing something good for several organizations that help people in the community.
  • Meeting and helping the people signed up to run in the 10 miler.
  • Dancing at my post and seeing the reaction of the runners to our antics.
  • Seeing the determination strength and joy in runner/ walkers
  • Being a part of something bigger than myself
  • Event well organized and our instructions were plentiful and informative. I was able to get in a decent workout by walking back to finish from my post.
  • Cheering for everyone and having people wave back!
  • I enjoyed being able to cheer on all the runners. I'm a runner myself and I know how it is everyone runs for different reasons and seeing how hard everyone was pushing themselves and that I could be inspiring/ encouraging was great. It was also nice seeing my coworkers run in it.
  • Again, glad to give the boys a chance to give back, and it is a fun event that the community galvanizes around.
  • The t-shirts and the community!
